Advanced Analytical Chemistry

Provides researchers with superb capability for detection and quantification of chemical components. The state-of-the-art instrumentation suite includes gas and liquid chromatograph-mass spectrometers,  and a variety of spectrophotometers. The center meets the needs of a wide variety of fields for the detection of small molecules, trace elements, proteins, lipids, and polymers.

Bio-Molecular Imaging

Provides instrumentation focused on the identification of molecular signatures such as: protein and lipid detection, microorganism identification, biomarker discovery, and advanced imaging. The center features six matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-mass spectrometers and one of the first MALDI 7090 imagers in the United States.

Environmental, Forensics & Material Science

Harnesses the power of the most up-to-date technology for the study of major and trace element analysis, contaminant detection, and material structures. Instrumentation includes multiple X-ray platforms and electron microprobe analyzer; atomic absorption, inductively coupled plasma emission and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Further enhanced by particle size analyzers from the nano- to micro-scale and total organic carbon analyzers. The facility has applications in homeland security, environmental science, geological science, and material engineering.

Nanotechnology Research Center

A preeminent research center of its kind; with its class 100 cleanroom and superior instrument capabilities the center has application to all science and engineering disciplines in micrometer and nanometer scale. The center houses over 75 major pieces of equipment for all areas of fabrication and characterization including deposition, etching-ashing, dicing and bonding, photolithography, FIB and E-Beam writer, scanning electron microscope, and scanning tunneling microscope.

Center For Nanostructured Materials

An interdisciplinary research center where physics, chemistry, and material science are applied to this emerging area of nanoscience. Instrumentation includes X-ray Diffraction (XRD), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Raman Spectroscopy, Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR), Atomic Force Microscope (AFM), and Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM). These tools support structural characterization and analysis of bulk and surface crystal, elemental, and molecular composition.
