 Press Releases

  • Chicago, IL USA: The Australian designer and manufacturer of lab automation systems, Aim Lab Automation Technologies Pty Ltd, will demonstrate their latest PathFinder automation platform – the PathFinder 350D Plus - on booth 4648 at the 70th AACC Clinical Lab Expo being held in Chicago from July 31st – August 2nd.

The PathFinder 350D Plus Decapper Sorter is an extended version of the PathFinder 350D and is used for automating the de-capping and sorting of incoming blood collection tubes directly into various analyzer racks. The Plus version adds an additional sorter module to double the overall deck capacity of the PF350D which means more rack loading (input) and destination positions to increase walk-away time. The PathFinder 350D Plus also has the added advantage of more processing power increasing the throughput to 600 tubes per hour.

Incoming sample tubes are loaded onto the PathFinder 350D Plus in a generic sample rack on the RHS Sorter module. The tubes are transferred in turn to the ID carousel where the tube barcode information is read and relayed to the LIS along with the date and time of presentation. Based on the LIS response, each tube can be selectively de-capped and sorted to one or more destination racks on either Sorter module. If required, the barcode label on the tube can be automatically aligned with the viewing window in an analyzer rack when placed into the rack. Any samples that have no data entered or can't be identified are transferred to a holding rack for further investigation.

The PathFinder 350D or 350D Plus De-capper/Sorter ideally compliments Aim Lab's PathFinder 350A Archiver to provide an economical and space efficient automated solution for pre- and post- analytical processing of specimen collection tubes for laboratories handling from 500 - 3,000 tubes per day.

About Aim Lab Automation Technologies Pty Ltd. Aim Lab (www.aimlab.com) is a designer and manufacturer of specialist laboratory automation robotics to assist in managing large numbers of samples prior to analysis in industrial and pathology laboratories. Originally founded in 1975, Aim Lab has designed, manufactured and distributed over 15,000 automation systems through various analyser manufacturers around the world. In 2016, Aim Lab was awarded both the Australian and Queensland Export Award for Manufacturing.

  • Aim Lab is making the automation of sample tube processing more accessible with their PathFinder 350D Decapper/Sorter and  PathFinder 350A Archiver compact robotic workstations.

This unique combination provides a powerful yet economical solution for automating the pre- and post-analytical handling of specimen collection tubes in small to medium labs processing up to 3,000 sample tubes per day.

Laboratory automation can offer the following benefits to your operations:

    ·         Eliminate manual handling errors

    ·         Reduce the incidence of RSI injuries

    ·         Improve efficiency and reduce your Turn Around Time

    ·         Reduce the number of 'misplaced' tubes

    ·         Streamline your operations by standardising processing procedures

    ·         Accommodate growth without increasing your workforce

Come and visit Aim Lab at booth 4846 and see how automation can make a difference in your lab!

  • Aim Lab’s PathFinder 350A Archiver is a compact bench top workstation for automating the capping (foil sealing), sorting and archiving of sample tubes directly from analyzer racks into low cost storage racks. When sampling is complete, analyzer racks are loaded onto the PathFinder 350A for processing. Those sample tubes where all requested tests have been completed are foil sealed and sorted into uniquely identified storage racks. Tubes are capped with a laminated foil which seals the tube preventing evaporation and leakage during transport or freezer storage.

The PathFinder 350A is best suited to archiving workloads of 500 – 3,000 tubes per day and offers the following additional benefits:

    • Significantly reduces tube handling and eliminates manual processing errors

    • Easy sample tracking

    • Reduces repetitive strain injuries

    • Low cap costs compared to alternatives

    • Sorts out those tubes with any outstanding tests including send outs

Come and see a demonstration of the PathFinder 350A on Booth 4648 at the 2018 AACC Clinical Lab Expo in Chicago.

  • AIM Tube Sealing Module (TSM)
Aim Lab’s new Tube Sealing Module has been designed for easy integration into an analyzer or track based system to foil seal uncapped plastic specimen tubes for storage or transport. The AIM TSM processes up to 720 tubes/hour, is compact in size and fully electric. It generates no waste, has no hot surfaces to touch and has a 20,000 seal capacity....

  • Aim Lab Automation Technologies is exhibiting it’s latest generation Tube Sealing Module (TSM) on Booth 4648. The new compact AIM TSM is for integration into an analyzer or track based system to foil seal uncapped plastic specimen tubes. The new TSM is the third generation foil sealing technology from Aim Lab, first introduced in 1999. It does not use any pneumatics or vacuum nor does it generate any foil waste. It also has a higher throughput (up to 720 tubes/hr) and a much lower energy usage than prior models. But it’s the novel way the TSM works that is most impressive – it does not create an individual seal until the foil is clamped onto the uncapped tube. This market leading innovation results in a simpler, faster and more reliable design. Foil sealed tubes can be stored down to -80 deg C without leakage. What's more, a foil seal is considerably cheaper than other capping alternatives.
