Announcing A New Approach to
Disaster Management Training...

EVENT OVERVIEW

Disaster management training has become a common theme for various events across the nation, but few of them address the operational needs of today’s disaster management challenges.  The 2009 West Coast Disaster Management Integration event (DMI 2009), August 11-13 in Sacramento, California , will bring together disaster management professionals from across the country for a unique, hands-on training event with the inaugural theme of Fires, Floods and Earthquakes: Turning Strategy Into Action .  DMI is scheduled to become a bi-annual, bi-coastal event.

DMI 2009 aims to give every participant a framework for action; to provide new information and training that will change and enhance the way first responders do their jobs. DMI 2009 will establish itself as the event for disaster management professionals by:

Offering comprehensive, interactive hands-on training and activities employing real
world principles, best practices, and lessons learned from recent emergencies.
  Audience participation is encouraged.

Featuring subject matter experts and those with real event experience from across the
  United States.

• Focusing on fundamental integration of the phases of emergency management:
mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery over the lifecycle of the emergency.

• Giving instruction, including modernized updates and solutions for today’s disaster
challenges based on lessons learned from recent disasters.
• Providing training for those new in the field and strengthening the foundation of the
  seasoned professional.
