  • AdvantEdge validates continuing client-centered commitment to information transparency, safety and security for its clients.

    WARREN, N.J. September 27, 2017 AdvantEdge Healthcare Solutions (“AdvantEdge”), a leading healthcare billing, coding, and practice-management company, today announced its completion of the third-party Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16 (“SSAE 16”) System and Organization Controls Report (“SOC 1®” Report) Type 2 and SOC 2® Type 1 examinations. These completed certifications mark another milestone for AdvantEdge, validating its commitment to deliver high-quality services and informational security to its clients by operating at the highest level of transparency and standards.

    SOC 1 for service organization focuses on internal control over financial reporting (ICFR) and reports on controls at a service organization relevant to user entities’ internal control over financial reporting. SOC 1 Type 2 examinations report on the fairness of the presentation of management’s description of the service organization’s system and the suitability of the design and operating effectiveness of the controls to achieve the related control objectives included in the description throughout a specified period.

    SOC 2 for service organizations focuses on trust services criteria and reports on controls at a service organization relevant to security and confidentiality principles set forth in TSP 100. The SOC 2 Type 1 examinations report on management’s description of a service organization’s system and the suitability of the design of controls.

    The examination was performed by 360 Advanced, Inc., a full-service audit firm that specializes in integrated compliance solutions. The SOC 1 and SOC 2 examinations are attestation standards issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“AICPA”), and both reports have been issued under SSAE 18, the most widely recognized authoritative guidance that provides service organizations a uniform method for disclosing independently assessed information about the design and operation of internal controls related to their services.

    “We are proud of this accomplishment and the what it illustrates to our clients relative to our ClientFirst℠ commitment and organizational focus on information security and organizational transparency, said AdvantEdge’s President & CEO, David Langsam. “Participating in SOC 1 Type 2 and SOC 2 Type 1 examinations is an active demonstration and validation that our words and stated commitments in this regard are consistent with how we operate the business, and that our clients can rely on us every day to protect their information.”

  • AdvantEdge continues to lead the industry in reducing risk and improving client confidence in compliance and security

    WARREN, N.J. Aug. 22, 2017 AdvantEdge Healthcare Solutions (“AdvantEdge”) today announced successful third party recertification for HIPAA and HITECH privacy and security requirements by 360 Advanced, marking AdvantEdge’s fifth consecutive year of complete organizational commitment to meet the rigorous data and security requirements of HIPAA and the HITECH Act.

    “This recertification demonstrates that our standards for revenue cycle management services for physician practices, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and behavioral health agencies are “above and beyond” those of most firms in the industry. It has become commonplace to learn almost daily of a release of Protected Health Information (PHI), or providers subjected to ransomware attacks. In light of increased security vulnerabilities, healthcare providers can have a higher degree of confidence in AdvantEdge’s rigorous standards for security and privacy to prevent such occurrences,” said David Langsam, President and CEO.

    In 1998, The Office of Inspector General (OIG) published Compliance Program Guidance for Third-Party Medical Billing Companies. The program established seven elements of an effective compliance program, they are:

    • Implementing written policies, procedures and standards of conduct;
    • Designating a compliance officer and compliance committee;
    • Conducting effective training and education;
    • Developing effective lines of communication;
    • Enforcing standards through well publicized disciplinary guidelines;
    • Conducting internal monitoring and auditing; and
    • Responding promptly to detected offenses and developing corrective action

    AdvantEdge’s Compliance Plan proactively embraces all seven fundamental elements to an effective compliance program that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for third-party medical billing companies and avoid related risks and penalties.
