Pre-Meeting Workshops

These optional courses are designed to benefit all members of the Society and SSO 2017 attendees with an emphasis on practical information for the practicing surgeon. Registrants also wishing to attend the 2017 Annual Cancer Symposium are required to pay the full meeting registration fee above. All pre-meeting courses will take place at the Washington State Convention Center. Visit the SSO 2017 registration site to sign-up. Registration is limited, so please sign up early!

Fellows Institute II: Practical Aspects of Starting a Surgical Oncology Career

The SSO Training Committee organized this pre-meeting workshop to compliment the topics covered at Fellows Institute in November. Faculty will speak to personal experiences of finding and negotiating a job offer, communication skills, and how to maintain a work-life balance after training. Minimally Invasive Surgery for Colorectal Cancer
Wednesday, March 15 | 1-4:30 pm

This half-day interactive didactic course will focus on novel minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of colon and rectal cancer. Topics to be covered include recent evidence supporting laparoscopic and robotic techniques, technical approaches to total mesorectal excision and complete mesocolic excision, and intracorporeal versus extracorporeal anastomosis.
