EUMETSAT monitors weather and climate from space by operating four geostationary Meteosat spacecraft providing observations vital for severe weather warnings, and two Metop polar orbiting satellites supplying parameters essential for forecasting high impact weather up to 10 days in advance. It is also a partner in the Jason ocean altimetry missions and the EU Copernicus programme.
