Toolik Field Station, located in the northern foothills of the Brooks Range (68°38'N, 149°36'W, elevation 720 m), Alaska, and established in 1975, is a major site for national and international scientific research in the North American Arctic. The Station’s mission is to support research and education that contributes to a greater understanding of the Arctic and its relationship to the global environment. Toolik Field Station is operated and managed by the Institute of Arctic Biology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks with financial support from the U.S. National Science Foundation.
