Scientific Aviation operates three fixed-wing, single-engine certified aircraft that have been modified for atmospheric research. Using onboard measurements of wind and a variety of trace gases, these aircraft are capable of measuring emissions ranging from individual point sources to larger scale basin-wide emissions. 1200 W of onboard power, 300 lbs of instrument payload, and 7 hours of flight time make these aircraft extremely versatile and capable for a wide range of research projects.
