Its activities are organised around 5 key roles: Scientific research, Support to public policy development, International cooperation, Mine Safety, Training. It covers 10 main topic areas addressing industrial and social challenges: geology, mineral resources, geothermal energy, geological storage of CO2, risks, water, environment, metrology information systems.
