The SD Mines Department of Geology and Geological Engineering offers three programs of graduate study: a MS in Geology and Geological Engineering, a MS in Paleontology, and a PhD in Geology, Geological Engineering, and Mining Engineering. The Paleontology MS is the only one in the nation. These graduate programs equip geologists, geological engineers, and paleontologists with strong technical backgrounds, significant research opportunities, and excellent field and laboratory experiences, so they are well prepared to succeed in a diverse global environment.
