As an interdisciplinary artist, Maria Elias explores her identity, culture, social injustices, and her vision of the world. Using primarily black paper, Elias creates a sense of darkness in her works which greatly contrasts against the saturated colors she uses. Growing up Mexican American, she has faced many social issues and identity crises. Ultimately, Elias wants to show her small window of the world to everyone to share her experiences and to raise awareness for the latine community.
