Harry Jarman is a well-known Southern realist who paints in oils with a soft touch and richness of color that portrays great feeling and knowledge. Harry's subjects range from still-lifes, landscapes and seacapes. Harry is completely self taught, often laughing about the fact that many of his pieces were completed by trail and error. After being away from this area for several years, Harry is looking forward to returning to Chantilly.

  • Family Ties
Oil on canvas, collection of antique
Ball Jars against a weathered door. Enjoyed working with the different textures of this piece....

  • Oils on canvas, using professional grade oils and canvas.  I also at time will paint on masonite depending on the subject matter.  I have always been able to draw since I was a child, I originally started using pen and inks before I began painting in oils.  I have been painting for 49 years and have been a professional artist for 39 years.  I look forward to painting everyday. None of my work is computer generated, I often do work from photographs but I take all my own photographs and with still lifes I work from life.
  • Uncorked
Collection of wine corks, the letter on this piece I found quite challenging ....

  • My body of work is oils,   using professional grade oils and canvas.  There are times I will paint on masonite and that often depends on what my subject matter I am working with.  I have been painting now for 49 years and professionally for 39 years.  I originally started out using pen and inks before using oils.  I have tried most mediums but find that oils suit my temperment.  I am somewhat old school as none of my work is computer generated.  I often paint from photographs, but I take all my own photographs, and with still lifes I can paint from life.  I still enjoy and look forward to painting everyday.
