Personnel Force Innovation
Personnel Force Innovation (PFI) is an Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) initiative to place Reserve Component service members on active duty with Defense agencies to perform critical work.
DoD agencies can use their Defense Working Capital or Foreign Military Sales funds to activate Soldiers and Airmen to support their mission. This is done through direct reimbursement to the service budget office.
The PFI program was established in 1996 and has placed thousands of service members on tour.
