CISME (‘kiss-me’) for Coral In Situ MEtabolism reflects the gentle interaction between the instrument/substrate during metabolic measurements of corals and other benthic substrates in situ. It is a diver-portable respirometer that measures real-time oxygen and pH during short incubations in which water flow and light levels are user controlled. Sample loops provide water samples for lab measurements. The sample loop can also be used experimentally to introduce substances during incubations.
