  • Turnkey Pharmacy Solutions (a SpendMend Company) earns key role in the Apexus Advanced 340B Operations Certificate Program 2022 update module.

SpendMend, the leading provider of tech-enabled solutions to optimize the cost-cycle for the healthcare industry, announced today that Turnkey Pharmacy Solutions (a SpendMend Company) has been selected as one of only two consultant firms to contribute to the Apexus Advanced 340B Operations Certificate Program 2022 update module. Apexus offers professional training and validation through its Advanced 340B Operations Certificate Program.

"The Operations Certificate Program is the only 340B education in the marketplace that results in validated expertise," says Chris Hatwig, President, Apexus. "Successful completion of the program results in the 340B ACE designation, and the knowledge gained helps stakeholders appropriately manage compliant 340B pharmacy operations. Apexus is pleased to partner with Turnkey, a SpendMend company, to provide operational expertise and support to the Operations Certificate enrollees."

The 2022 update module will feature policy updates, emerging best practices, and 340B "hot topics." The module will reach over 2,000 enrollees and graduates of the Certificate Program.

Turnkey's selection by Apexus marks the second time they have been chosen to contribute to the 340B Certificate Program material.  They are one of only five consultants to have ever been selected as a contributor, and they are the only firm to have ever been selected twice.

"The selection committee, consisting of non-Apexus staff, evaluated applications in a blind review to determine this year's program contributors," stated Alexandra M. Williams, 340B Education Program Lead at Apexus, "Turnkey Pharmacy Solutions stood out based on the large number of 340B ACEs and enrollees on staff, as well as on the creative and poignant ideas they listed for 'hot topics' to be included within the module."

"We're beyond proud to have been selected for a second time by Apexus," says Rob Nahoopii founder of Turnkey and Senior Vice President of SpendMend Pharmacy Services. "We have long admired Apexus, and we believe our work on their 340B Certificate Program update module will have a positive impact on covered entities across the country. And that is always our goal."

The Advanced 340B Operations Certificate Program is a separate Apexus offering that is not a part of the 340B Prime Vendor Program or otherwise associated with the Prime Vendor Agreement between HRSA and Apexus. • SpendMend's Pharmacy division hits major milestone while keeping covered entities compliant with Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) statutes relating to 340B regulations.

Turnkey (A SpendMend Company) Pharmacy Solutions

SpendMend, the leading provider of tech-enabled solutions to optimize the cost-cycle for the healthcare industry, announced today their pharmacy division has surpassed 1,500 340B compliance audits in addition to 100 dedicated HRSA audits.

Turnkey Pharmacy Solutions (a SpendMend Company) provides external 340B Program auditing while also assisting with regulatory oversight helping Covered Entities (CE's) remain compliant with HRSA through annual reviews of their 340B programs. The in-depth audit process mimics an HRSA audit to gauge how well a covered entity will fare when facing an external HRSA audit while also performing a comprehensive gap analysis of the CE's 340B program.

The 340B program, passed by U.S. Congress in 1992, helps hospitals and clinics that provide care to the uninsured; the underinsured; people with HIV or AIDS; children with cancer; and other vulnerable patient segments by requiring drug companies to provide medications at a discounted price.

The program requires drug manufacturers to sell outpatient drugs at a discount to CE's. The Office of Pharmacy Affairs and HRSA administer the program and oversee program compliance through annual audits, among other efforts. If audits identify noncompliance issues, HRSA presents findings to CE's and requires corrective action to continue in the 340B Program.

"More so than the large number of compliance audits we have performed, we are most proud of the high level of quality that we have delivered to the covered entities that we serve," states Rob Nahoopii, founder of Turnkey Pharmacy Solutions. "We remain dedicated to supporting hospitals and clinics in their mission to help underserved and disadvantaged patient communities."

  • SpendMend Pharmacy expands suite of award-winning pharmacy solutions with the release of 340B Referral Capture

    SpendMend

SpendMend, the leading provider of tech-enabled solutions to optimize the cost-cycle for the healthcare industry, announced today the general availability of a new SpendMend Pharmacy solution: "340B Referral Capture."

SpendMend Pharmacy was created in August 2020 through the acquisition of Turnkey Pharmacy Solutions and Elevate 340B. The division specializes in compliance, optimization, and growth services for 340B-covered entities and non-340B pharmacies across the U.S.

Throughout the first half of 2021, SpendMend Pharmacy has developed and delivered services to help covered entities identify and capture referral prescriptions that meet all 340B qualification requirements in a compliant manner.

"SpendMend Referral Capture presents all of our referral capture savings in one simple report," states Mat Slaybaugh, CEO at Garfield Memorial Hospital. "The solution has helped us to easily identify potentially eligible referrals while capturing additional 340B savings without adding additional work or integrations."

"Too many prescriptions are excluded from 340B eligibility because of the complexities of managing referral partner relationships," explains Rich Bucher, Vice President of Pharmacy Services at SpendMend. "Our goal is to return this lost value back to covered entities so they can drive that savings back into patient care."

Covered entities using the new service gain increased cost savings, increased revenue, expanded access to accurate referral claim data, and reduced resource requirements, all while remaining 340B program-compliant and HRSA audit-ready.
