The Coast Guard’s Bridge Program is responsible for approval of the location and plans of bridges and causeways constructed across navigable waters of the U.S., approval of drawbridge operating regulations, and the alteration of bridges found to be unreasonable obstructions to navigation. The Bridge Program contributes to the development of a safer and more efficient Marine Transportation System.
