Vitamin B12 plays an important role in DNA synthesis and neurologic function. Deficiency can lead to a wide spectrum of hematologic and neuropsychiatric disorders that can often be revesed by early diagnosis and prompt treatment. The ADVIA Centaur® Active-B12* assay from Siemens Healthcare measures holotranscobalamin (holoTC), the only form of vitamin B12 that is taken up and used by cells of the body. A number of studies have been published to support that holoTC is a better indicator of vitamin B12 status than total serum cobalamin. Optimize your patients’ diagnostic experience by identifying anemia sooner using a better indicator of vitamin B12 status.

Deliver outcomes that matter to patients with the ADVIA Centaur^® Zika Test.* The Siemens Healthineers Zika test is for in vitro diagnostic use in the qualitative determination of IgM antibodies to the Zika virus. Detection of ZIKV-specific IgM antibodies is used for diagnosis and appropriate clinical management of patients. Our Zika test provides lab efficiencies by consolidating infectious-disease testing onto one automated platform.

Siemens Healthineers is developing the ADVIA Chemistry Enzymatic Hemoglobin A1c (A1c_E) assay for measuring the HbA1c diabetes marker. Measurement of HbA1c is used as an aid in diagnosis and monitoring of long-term blood glucose control in patients with diabetes mellitus and identification of those at risk for developing diabetes mellitus.

Diabetes continues to rise across the globe, and new standards of testing require reducing unwarranted variations. Our goal for the ADVIA Chemistry A1c_E assay is to offer high precision and accuracy that meets these standards, provide confidence in results with a NGSP standardized A1c_E assay, and support the diagnosis and monitoring of persons with diabetes.

The Testosterone II assay* available on the ADVIA Centaur^® XP/XPT and Atellica^® IM Analyzers is for in vitro diagnostic use in the quantitative determination of total testosterone (bound and unbound). The new assay has improvements in lower-end sensitivity and precision and onboard and calibration stability. The assay is aligned to the CDC Hormone Standardization Program (HoSt) Testosterone Reference Method. Also available is the ADVIA Centaur^® SHBG assay which can be used with the Testosterone II assay to calculate the Free Androgen Index (FAI). The Testosterone II assay improves diagnostic accuracy over previous generation assays and complements our comprehensive reproductive endocrinology testing menu.
