  • If you think that photometers have been around for a long time and no improvements are possible any more – You are wrong! Developing a new photometer from the scratch while implementing state-of-the-art information technology, HUMAN has been rethinking photometers. Special focus has been put to serve laboratories in developing and emerging countries.

With an automatic self-check, the remote service and support function, easy maintenance procedures and traceability of the results, everyday life in the laboratory will become easier. HUMAN’s HumaLyzer 4000 is the only photometer for routine applications that offers reference channel optics for even higher precision of the results.

For the sake of regulatory exigencies and traceability, the instrument saves the method as well as the respective calibration with every single result. Reaction curves for every single measurement can be reviewed even years after the test has been run.

Many of these features are already offered by large automated IVD analyzers. However, these innovations were still rare or non-existent for smaller instruments. With the HumaLyzer 4000, HUMAN offers an affordable German quality solution that meets future requirements already today.

“Small maintenance tasks should be easy and performable by the user, to avoid long waiting times for a service appointment on site” states Katharina Klomann, responsible Product Manager of the HumaLyzer 4000. These basic maintenance operations include, for example, the replacement of the pump tube or the photometer lamp. And Katharina is happy “that HUMAN attaches such great importance to supporting its customers in the best possible way”.

On top of its vast portfolio of features HumaLyzer 4000 is also built to function even under difficult conditions. The housing is completely sealed and the device is protected by a dust filter at the air inlet. Regulated ventilation guarantees minimal dust aspiration into the analyzer housing. Due to the optimized energy consumption, it is even possible to operate the device for 4 hours with an optional 75 Wh rechargeable battery.

  • The Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification, called LAMP, is a unique, temperature- independent technique for amplifying DNA. HUMAN and Eiken developed with their TB-LAMP solution this molecular method for the detection of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Complex.

TB-LAMP is recommended by the WHO for replacing smear microscopy. The reason for the acceptance in the policy guideline was that TB-Lamp detects more positive TB cases and that it is also applicable to confirm smear negative results.

“Our approach is to provide a test for a rapid diagnose, which is safe, robust and easy to perform” said André Jendretzki, Junior Manager New Business & Market Development at HUMAN.

Its robustness, high sensitivity and ease of use makes TB-LAMP an excellent and nearly failsafe solution to improve TB diagnostics in remote areas. Moreover, this system offers a higher throughput of samples in lesser time than existing technologies.

Today, in resource-limited settings, TB is primarily diagnosed by sputum smear microscopy as more sensitive methods are often not available particularly due to the lack of infrastructure, skilled personnel and financing.

“We are very proud about reaching our next milestone by now being listed with the TB-LAMP products in the GDF catalog” André continues to explain. Due to the inclusion of HUMAN’s TB-LAMP products, countries will get better access to sensitive TB diagnostics and support in their engagement to end TB.

  • The powerful combination of the devices HumaCount 5D and HumaSRate 24PT as laboratory equipment is patient-friendly, cost-efficient and time-saving.

The HumaCount 5D is an automated 5-part system using 3D laser detection technology for an improved differentiation of white blood cells. Venous blood as well as capillary blood can be analyzed on this user friendly device.

In combination with the HumaSRate 24PT, our ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate) system, these two devices add value to the small to medium sized lab.

No matter what clinical picture the examination is about: the combination of the two devices makes sense from a medical and economic point of view. With one and the same blood sample, both devices can be operated one after the other. So the patient has to undergo only a single blood withdrawal with the benefit to receive multiple diagnostic results.

Most of the times ESR is requested together with CBC. The combination of the HumaCount 5D and the HumaSRate24PT offers the possibility to receive a combined report containing CBC and ESR in about 20 minutes.

Only one EDTA tube is needed to run this worry-free workflow. The blood sample collected in an EDTA Tube is usable in both devices. “It is evident, that this saves time and costs in the clinical routine” knows Dr. Maike Rehage, Product Manager for the HUMAN Hematology Line.

“Beyond that you avoid a lot of waste in addition to saving money because no additional ESR-Tubes need to be purchased”, adds Rehage to the existing arguments.

  • HUMAN’s semi-automated coagulometers allow for the economic and accurate determination of coagulation parameters. HUMAN offers appropriate solutions for different workloads: choose between the extended family of a one, two and four channel semi-automated instrument as well as a fully automated coagulation Analyzer.

Regardless of the HUMAN HumaClot instrument that suits a laboratories particular needs,  the semi-automatic instruments as well as the fully automated instrument have one technology in common. The combination of measurement methods, in particular turbidimetric, immunologic, chromogenic and clotting for maximum flexibility. We call this the TIC2+ technology. In addition to that, the automated stirring feature ensures reliable and repeatable results.

Fully-validated application settings that guarantee proven result quality are preinstalled for the HEMOSTAT coagulation assay portfolio. This includes Prothrombin Time (PT), activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (aPTT), Thrombin Time (TT), Fibrinogen (FIB), Antithrombin (AT) and D-Dimer (DD).

The recent addition of D-Dimer to the assay portfolio of our semi-automated instruments, creates new opportunities for our customers.

HEMOSTAT D-DIMER is a micro-particle enhanced turbidimetric assay for the quantitative determination of D-dimer. It is used as an aid in the diagnosis of venous thromboembolism (VTE), a globally wide-spread disease and the 3rd leading vascular disease after heart attack and stroke. HEMOSTAT D-DIMER has a very high negative predictive value (NPV) of 99% and thus perfectly fulfills the CLSI H59-A guideline requirements. It is simple, because of its ease-in-use. It is fast, because of the availability of a quantitative result within 3 minutes. And it is cost-effective, compared to expensive medical imaging.
