On Friday, July 12, 2019, 9 a.m., NORCOM 911 will be celebrating 10 years of Emergency Communication Services. Over the past 10 years, NORCOM has matured into an elite and high performing 911 center.
The Washington Survey and Rating Bureau, which sets fire insurance risk ratings for the state of Washington, reported that it “rates NORCOM as the highest performing 911 center in Washington State.” That means the residents in the northeast part of King County within NORCOM’s jurisdiction have the lowest fire insurance rates possible in the state.
NORCOM’s vision is to lead the nation as a premier center of excellence, collaboratively leveraging technology and innovative services to support public safety, health, and welfare. In 2018, NORCOM developed and patented an information sharing software called RAADAR. RAADAR is adopted by most of King and Snohomish County and will soon go statewide with Federal grant funding.
As NORCOM continues to focus on excellence, they are routinely excelling in the top tier in the nation in the speed in which 911 calls are answered and dispatched. The King County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol, and the King County Fire Chiefs as well as others are collaborating with NORCOM to move towards operating as a seamless regional team with no borders in order to increase public safety.
