The American Society of Hematology (ASH) is an educational and charitable organization devoted to helping hematologists conquer blood diseases worldwide. With more than 17,000 members from nearly 100 countries, ASH is the world’s largest professional society of these specialists. The Society was founded in 1958 by a group of academicians who shared an interest in diseases of the blood and blood-forming organs. For more than 50 years, ASH has been committed to meeting the needs of those engaged in the field of hematology by providing cutting-edge educational and research opportunities to a diverse population of hematologists, ranging from basic scientists to community-based hematologists and hematologist-oncologists at every career level, both domestically and abroad. ASH’s offerings include educational meetings and publications, award and grant programs, advocacy, and career-development opportunities.
