David Winigrad is a mixed-media artist based in Philadelphia. After receiving his BFA from Carnegie-Mellon University, David pursued a career advertising. In 2013, he took on the challenge of reimagining the traditional whirligig folk art form. The resulting wind-powered, kinetic sculptures retain the whimsy of their precursors while incorporating a contemporary aesthetic. Recently, his work has expanded to include new kinetic works including mobiles, stabiles, balancers and radiometer lamps.
