As a 25 year woodworker, woodturning became my hobby inside of woodworking. I'm a married father of 7 wonderful children so having a hobby is important. It just so happens, that my hobby has become my living. I only started turning about 8 years ago but it has become a passion. What I love the most is seeing the artistic work that nature completes in the woods that I work with during the process of decay. My approach is to preserve this beautiful work through a beautiful form and finish.

  • Spalted Silver Maple #1
This piece is 12.5" in diameter by 8.5" tall. The walls are turned to 1/4" thick, with the mouth somewhat thinner and then the whole piece is finished with a UV resistant epoxy resin, inside and out....

  • This piece is the first in my newly created, "Black Series", denoting its premium quality of wood species, shape, and finish.  The bottom "foot" of all my pieces have a colored epoxy finish to go along with their series title. While all of my pieces are pristinely finished, occasionally a piece of wood is so stunning and it lends itself to a shape so inviting that it elevates itself to another level worthy of only the most selective of collectors. This piece is 12.5" in diameter by 8.5" tall.   There is also light burling effects throughout this piece with both blue spalt and the more common black lines known as zone light spalting. The walls are turned to 1/4" thick, with the mouth somewhat thinner and then the whole piece is finished with a UV resistant epoxy resin, inside and out. This piece is absolutely stunning.  You will never see a better finish anywhere. A worthy addition for any serious collector and can proudly sit next to works of any highly renowned woodturner. I guarantee that all my pieces are far more stunning in person than they are in pictures. If you don't find this to be so, I will work to satisfy your discerning taste.
  • East Indian Rosewood #55
This piece measures 10.25" in diameter by 5" tall with walls turned to 3/16" in thickness. It is finished inside and out with UV resistant epoxy resin with a very high gloss luster....

  • This form bears the dark mysteries of the ethereal orient.  It seems to swirl with Indian beauty and has a finish that cannot be topped. Please note that most of the pictures show the dark sections as somewhat lighter than they actually are. This is due to the amount of light we must use in pics to get the camera to focus on the dark wood. The walls are turned to 3/16" of an inch thick (before epoxy). It measures 10.25" in diameter by 5" tall.  It is finished inside and out with UV resistant epoxy resin with a very high gloss lustre. This is a truly lovely piece with gorgeous contrast between the lighter colored sapwood and the dark heartwood.  The bottom "foot" of all my pieces have a colored epoxy finish to go along with their series title. A worthy addition for any serious collector and can proudly sit next to works of any highly renowned woodturner. I guarantee that all my pieces are far more stunning in person than they are in pictures. If you don't find this to be so, I will work to satisfy your discerning taste.
  • Leyland Cypress #44
This piece is fairly large measuring 9” diameter by 11” tall. It is finished inside and out with epoxy resin.

    ...

  • This piece. What can I say? I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and my eye loves this piece. This piece is fairly large measuring 9” diameter by 11” tall. Leyland Cypress is a landscape tree favored by homeowners to create privacy for a residence. This piece has an unusual effect that I have only recently begun to play with.  While this piece was drying in between its first and second turning on the lathe, a fairly large but very consistent split opened up as the piece contracted during that process.  Rather than see this as a problem, I saw it as an opportunity.  I filled the split with very small portions of the limbs, turned perpendicular to the surface of the form.  These small branches are then epoxied into place, bringing complete stability to the piece and then clear epoxy applied like all of my other work.  Its pretty fantastic really and as far as I am aware, I am the only lathe-turning artist to work an effect like this into a hollow form. I am also a pretty big fan of this shape as well.

You will never see a better finish anywhere. It is finished inside and out with epoxy resin making it impervious to the environment.  A worthy addition for any serious collector and can proudly sit next to works of any highly renowned woodturner. I guarantee that all my pieces are far more stunning in person than they are in pictures. If you don't find this to be so, I will work to satisfy your discerning taste.

This piece is from the “blue series”, which refers to a series of forms bearing a dark blue bottom.
