We have a collection of antique European Art Nouveau period tiles that are custom framed to enhance the beauty. Each tile is original and over 100 years old. The European tile companies had artists and designers on staff that designed them so each one is a small work of art executed on clay tile.

  • Belgian Hibiscus Tile
    Tile made by Manufactures Céramiques d´Hemixem, Gilliot & Cie., Hemiksem/Antwerp circa 1905....

  • Gorgeous floral tile made by Manufactures Céramiques d´Hemixem, Gilliot & Cie., Hemiksem/Antwerp circa 1905.  Tile is in excellent  condition and has lustrous glaze with some crazing.  Small traces of mortar on back indicate this tile was likely installed in a historic European home or building.  This tile shown on page 185 of the book Art Nouveau Tiles by Fowler & Harvey.  Great tile, great colors!

  • Georg Schmider Art Nouveau tile circa 1905.  Made in Zell am Harmersbach, Germany.  Schmider made tiles to be inset into furniture, so the back of the tile is not meant to hold mortar and was therefore glazed.  This tile is shown on page 52 of the book Badisches Landesmuseum Jugendstil-Fliesen by René Simmermacher.  The tile is marked with pattern ID number 2042.  Very collectible water lily tile.

  • A fabulous bold Art Nouveau floral tile manufactured by T. & R. Boote, Stoke on Trent, England circa 1906.  A great design that gives a sense of motion in the leaves and flower.  The tile exhibits a network of very fine crazing.  The colors blend well.  This tile is shown on page 49 of Robert Smith's book Art Nouveau Tiles with Style.

  • Wonderful German Art Nouveau period tile circa 1905.  Maker Osterather Mosaik-und Wandplatten-Fabrik GmbH near Düsseldorf Germany.  This grape design is extremely well done and has a great color combination.  The background has nice crazing.  The lack of mortar on back indicates that this tile was likely installed in a piece of German furniture.  A great German Art Nouveau tile and in excellent condition.

  • Custom made Henry Richards tile, England circa 1920.  This tile was made slightly after the Art Nouveau period.  It has a Dutch design and great colors.  English tiles with a Dutch motif are quite rare.  This tile is shown on p 499 of Chris Blanchett’s definitive book 20th Century Decorative British Tiles.
