All my hats are loom knitted out of wool yarn to the desired shape, but much larger. They are then felted by running them through the hot cycle in the washing machine a couple of times where the shrink and turn into felt. They are then shaped, allowed to dry, brushed and trimmed. Embellishments consist of fabric flowers, frequently removable, feathers, beads and trims of various kinds. The felted wool is soft, warm, virtually waterproof and crushable.
