Harry Jarman is a well-known Southern realist who paints in oils with a soft touch and richness of color that portrays great feeling and knowledge. Harry's subjects range from still-lifes, landscapes and seacapes. Harry is completely self taught, often laughing about the fact that many of his pieces were completed by trail and error. After being away from this area for several years, Harry is looking forward to returning to Chantilly.

  • Family Ties
Collection of antique Ball Jars, painting glass is quite challenging and I find even though I have been a professional artist for many years I am always learning something new....

  • My body of work is oil on canvas or board.  I use professional grade oil paints and linen canvas.  There are times I paint on board, with board you can achieve  a high degree of detail.  I use layers of glazing to achieve a richness of color and depth. I paint a variety of subject matter ranging from still lifes to seascapes to land scapes.  Also I like to take an every item and give it a more contemporary feel.  At junk stores and antique stores I am always looking for that item that would be interesting in a painting.
  • Pieces of Time
Collection of antique Railroad Watches, these watches date from the late 1800's through the 1950's....

  • this original in oil on canvas.  These watches were loaned to me by a dear friend to use in this painting.  The men in her famly all worked for the railroad.  These watches were resting on an antique regulator clock that was salvaged from the original post office in Kernersville NC.  The regulator clock is hanging in our kitchen and stills runs today.
  • Whole Lot of Fun
I love to painting different subject matter. This is a fun piece, the animals are making off with the Krispy Kreme doughnuts....

  • My subject matter varies from serious to something really fun.  Krispy Kreme doughnuts are a favorite in the south.  They were born in Winston Salem, NC which is where I grew up, originally staring in a small white house in Old Salem, NC.  So if you are from the Carolinas there is nothing like a hot Krispy Kreme doughnut.  I have aquired a collection of vintage and antique toys and love to use them in my paintings.  They and fun and colorful and bring a smile to people's faces.
