  • The Parata Max®2 Enhances User Experience and Pharmacy Efficiency

Durham, North Carolina, October 10, 2019 – Parata Systems, a leading provider of pharmacy automation, including vial-filling, adherence packaging, and workflow and patient experience solutions, announces the launch of a new generation of their vial-filling robot, Max®2.

Improving pharmacy workflow helps alleviate medication errors that harm approximately 1.5 million people each year in the United States. By automating the labeling, filling, and capping of vials, the Parata Max 2 improves workflow and meets the demands of busy pharmacies across all settings.  Max 2 contributes to reduced costs and medication errors by automating up to 80% of a pharmacy’s oral solids with accuracy for drug and dose.

“Improving pharmacy workflow can directly increase patient safety,” said Mark Longley, EVP of Sales and Marketing at Parata. “The enhancements we made in Max 2 are designed with the pharmacy’s efficiency and accuracy top-of-mind.”

To deliver the technology pharmacies need, Max 2’s advancements include:

    • Enhanced, powerful software with user-friendly navigation
    • Color-coded LED lights provide visual cues to alert pharmacy team members when caps and vials should be refilled
    • Integrated verification camera to capture the contents of every vial before capping
    • Dual touchscreens with on-demand access to training, documentation, and requests for service
    • Connectivity through the Internet of Things using Parata Pulse SM which delivers business insights to enhance efficiencies
    • Automated drug cell calibration for quick and accurate NDC changes
    • 2D barcode scanner to reduce manual NDC entry time

“Innovation with pharmacy teams in mind is the driving force behind the enhancements we made to Max,” said Rocco Volpe, Parata’s COO. “We’ve listened to our customers and met the needs of the market, combining ease-of-use with the fastest vial-filling and capping solution our customers value.”

  • The First of its Kind, Parata Provides a Unique Space for Learning

(DURHAM, NC — September 24, 2019) Parata Systems, the leader in pharmacy automation, recently held a workshop led by the experienced and successful owner of Walberg Family Pharmacies, Bretton Walberg. With a focus on improving patient medication compliance, the 2-day workshop drew pharmacists, pharmacy managers, and pharmacy owners to Parata's Durham, North Carolina, headquarters.

“As the presenter, I loved the energy brought around the table,” said Walberg. “Focusing on our customers is everyone's goal. Working together, we can accomplish just that through a list of best practices - what works and what does not. What a great opportunity!”

Responding to the market’s needs, Parata facilitated the first in a series of workshops on August 21 and 22, at their headquarters in Durham, North Carolina. Each session, led by Bretton Walberg, focused on ways independent pharmacies can use adherence packing to improve medication compliance. The intimate setting provided ample time for attendees to engage in discussion and share ideas on everything from marketing tools to technical tips.

“I loved the workshop and was delighted to attend,” said Alice Dillard of ACE Triangle Pharmacy. “Meeting Independent Pharmacists who are positive and willing to share their stories was phenomenal. All of us can take away something to make our practices better and serve our communities in similar ways.”

Parata offers a variety of adherence packaging solutions, and attendees ranged from brand new packaging automation owners to veteran pouch packagers.

“I'm completely sold on Parata wanting me to succeed - very impressed with the whole experience,” said Melvin Anderson of Medicap Pharmacy. “No doubt I chose the right company to work with.”

“Medication nonadherence costs the healthcare industry billions of dollars each year in avoidable medical costs and readmissions,” said Mark Longley, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Parata. “We know pharmacies are looking for ways to alleviate these costs and improve the care of their patients. Offering a space for pharmacy owners to share and learn from each other is one of the many ways we can support our partners in pharmacy.”
