Civica Rx
A recent empirical study from NEJM Catalyst shows that nonprofit generic pharmaceutical company Civica Rx is "breaking through with positive impact on drug shortages and more affordable prices in the hospital-use generic drugs market." Civica was created for the express purpose of preventing and mitigating drug shortages, ensuring affordable supplies of essential medicines in the United States. Representing 1,500 hospitals and approximately one-third of all U.S. hospital beds, Civica has provided nearly 200 million units of medications to help treat over 90 million patients. To further ensure supply, Civica recently completed construction of a new 140K sf manufacturing facility for essential sterile injectable medicines for hospitals and affordable insulin for consumers.
