HDE is known for helping contractors get mat density on the longitudinal joint. On airports, contractors have been skipping the FAA requirement of cutting off the uncompacted edge by re-heating the joint, saving considerable time and money, and getting maximum density on the joint. We have been involved in research work with University of Tennessee and Arkansas for their respective DOT's and our technology came out on top for joint density and water impermeability compared to several other common techniques, including a bituminous band. Cost 10 cents per foot compared to 3 dollars per foot.
We have paver attached joint heaters with a lot of international paving companies.
And contractors like using the joint heater compared to any other process! See us at Booth 550 and we can give you plenty more proof!
