The Panda® variable energy lightweight dynamic cone penetrometer: the most widely used tool in the world for geotechnical sounding.
Created and developed in France by Sol Solution 30 years ago, the Panda® was designed to offer the geotechnical equipment market an instrumented and autonomous measuring device, at low cost, that is lightweight and small in size, requiring only one operator, but with sufficient penetration power to test most soils to a depth of a few meters.
Panda® is mainly used for :
- soil investigation at shallow depths,
- compaction control of road embankments, dikes, earth dams….
- bearing capacity assessment of summary land or road earthworks,
- risk of liquefaction assessment of earth dams or tailing dams.
Other advantage, the Panda® allows a very fine prospection of layers from very low to high resistance, by controlling the hammering energy, by adapting the hammering intensity. The measurements obtained thus make it possible to establish penetrograms with a very high spatial resolution.
Today, Sol Solution presents the 4th generation of Panda® combining an integrated GPS, a multi-language configuration, live data reading on site and connection to an online Websprint© application for data analysis and interpretation.
