We ensure transportation serves all. The Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to advancing opportunity, innovation, and leadership in the transportation industry. We believe that *all lived experience moves the world.* The leadership of an industry responsible for moving people, goods, and services should reflect the communities it serves—and by opening doors, we open pathways to better systems, greater connectivity, and stronger futures. Today, COMTO represents more than 3,000 members across 41 chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Our members work in every mode of transportation—highways and roads, mass transit systems, subways and rail, ports and airports—and include public agencies, corporations, small businesses, academic institutions, individuals, and students. From executives shaping major transportation systems to mechanics and operators ensuring the safe passage of millions each day, COMTO connects the full spectrum of transportation professionals. Through educational workshops, leadership development seminars, national webinars, and National Meeting & Training Conference, COMTO equips professionals with the knowledge, network, and resources to grow and excel. We are equally dedicated to developing the next generation of transportation talent through our signature programs: CITY Internship Program– A paid summer internship experience for undergraduate and graduate students to gain hands-on exposure within transportation agencies and businesses, developing professional skills, leadership, and industry insight. National Scholarship Program– Annual academic awards ranging from $500 to $6,000 for students pursuing transportation-related degrees. COMTO chapters collectively award over $500,000 annually in local scholarships nationwide. Whether you’re a student seeking your first internship, an early-career professional exploring industry pathways, or an established practitioner looking to stay connected, COMTO offers the bridge between where you are and where you want to go. Join us and be part of a movement ensuring that transportation not only serves everyone—but empowers everyone.
