We invite you to join us at the 2022 AACE Co-Management Care in Endocrinology meeting, taking place in person, September 30, 2022, in San Antonio, TX. This course is designed to provide the primary care team with the necessary knowledge and skills to care for common endocrine disorders in the primary care setting and co-manage conditions with endocrinology colleagues.
In the United States, endocrine-related conditions are on the rise due to the aging population and the growing prevalence of type 2 diabetes (T2DM). With three- to six-month wait times for an appointment with an estimated 43,457 patients for every endocrinologist, the endocrinologist workforce is not sufficient to meet the current demands of patient care. There is a projected shortfall of endocrine providers, for whom demand will continue to exceed supply through 2025.
Target Audience: 150 primary care physicians, advanced practice professionals, nurses, and diabetes educators who care for patients with diseases and disorders of the endocrine system.
Learning Objectives
- Identify key aspects of the workup for endocrine disorders
- Explain aspects of patient presentation and/or course that necessitate referral to an endocrinologist
- Summarize key characteristics of evidence-based assessment and treatment options for endocrine disorders
- Formulate a management plan that includes steps/strategies supporting optimal PCP-endocrinologist collaboration
