The global healthcare industry is increasingly reliant on molecular diagnostics as a means of identifying and treating diseases. In the fields of genetic testing, oncology, and infectious diseases, molecular diagnostics have become an indispensable part of diagnosing and developing treatments for health problems. TANBead has rolled out their Maelstrom line of products designed to meet the demand for automated, scalable throughput extraction devices for RNA/DNA purification.
One of the major drivers of the growth in molecular diagnostics is the rapid advent of genetic testing for the purposes of detecting certain cancers, such as lung or breast cancer, as well as non-invasive prenatal testing, or (NIPT). Another prominent factor is the maturation of several genetic diagnostic methods. For example, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and next generation sequencing (NGS) have improved to the point that they used both clinically and commercially.
In order to meet the requirements of the numerous researchers working with these technologies, TANBead has produced a modular solution for use with their existing line of Maelstrom devices. This module enables laboratories to process 10-50 µl volume samples, which are often needed for PCR and qPCR. While the original module can be used for 50 µl to 1600µl to extract the nucleic acid from multiple sample types, including virus, blood, plant, tissue, stool, and saliva, with some products able to handle larger sample volumes up to 10ml to extract cfDNA.
TANBead brings together a line of products that offer scalable throughput and a large variety of sample sizes. The company also works closely with partners to develop reagent kits and produce potent extraction solutions.
