"Gener8 LLC (“Gener8”), a portfolio firm of Sverica Capital Management LP (“Sverica”), is thrilled to announce today its expansion into Costa Rica with the inauguration of a brand new 30,000 sqft manufacturing facility situated in the La Lima Free trade zone park, Cartago, Costa Rica.
The sophisticated facility, designed for high-tech instrument manufacturing and cleanroom assembly, is equipped with an ESD-controlled environment and an ISO Class 8 cleanroom. This milestone achievement comes from Gener8 Costa Rica successfully obtaining ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certificates.
"Our strategic move to Costa Rica allows us to deliver a comprehensive product life cycle solution for our customers - encompassing not only hardware, software, and micro-fluidic cartridges design services, but now, efficient, high-volume manufacturing capabilities," said Jerry Jurkiewicz, Gener8 CEO.
Jurkiewicz stated, "Costa Rica was chosen for its pool of skilled workforce, proximity to our US operations, and proactive business-friendly policies. I am grateful to the Costa Rican government and CINDE for fostering such a conducive business environment."
The Minister of Foreign Trade, Manuel Tovar, responded, “Costa Rica is a recognized regional leader in advanced manufacturing processes. We're proud that Gener8 has chosen to establish its first manufacturing plant outside the United States here. This investment enables 60 Costa Ricans to secure quality employment in electromechanical instrument manufacturing. Our strategic positioning favors complex manufacturing industries and promotes product diversification, collectively energizing our economy."
Managing director of CINDE, Jorge Sequeira, observed, "Gener8's entrance in our territory propels us forward, beyond merely designing and manufacturing complex instruments. It spurs the research and development of groundbreaking technologies for medical diagnostics and clinical laboratory equipment. This is a testament to our consistent efforts to be a leading global destination for medical device companies, currently holding fifth place globally."
Commencing with a strong team of 60 employees, Gener8 aims to expand its headcount over the next few years significantly. With an initial staff of 27, the company anticipates dynamic growth.
"Our high-tech design and manufacturing processes will create stimulating job opportunities for engineers and technicians specializing in mechatronics, systems integration, and software testing," said Alfred Macha, Vice-president of Costa Rica Operations, Gener8."
