Clomid™ (clomiphene citrate) Tablets, USP works to increase fertility by stimulating an increase in the amount of hormones that support the growth and release of a mature egg.
Clomid attaches to receptors generally reserved for estrogen and increases follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) levels. These increased FSH levels stimulate the ovary to mature and release eggs.
Clomid is one of the most prescribed infertility treatments for women. It is also among the least expensive. It is prescribed for women experiencing infertility due to ovulatory issues or unexplained infertility.
Clomid is not recommended for women whose ovaries no longer make eggs properly due to primary pituitary or ovarian failure.
