Cortisol regulation plays an important role in a variety of diseases. At Corcept, we are developing selective glucocorticoid receptor modulators (SGRMs) that modulate the effects of cortisol. Each of Corcept’s SGRMs is being advanced for the clinical indication(s) that best match its unique pharmacodynamic profile.
In oncology, cortisol can suppress apoptotic pathways, thereby reducing the efficacy of chemotherapies. Modulating cortisol activity may also counter the immune-suppressive effects of cortisol, and block a cancer escape route in response to anti-androgen therapy.
