Pi-Lit® (from Pi Variables, Inc) of Tustin, California has released its Attenuator Impact Management System (AIMS®). Critical infrastructure such as crash cushions (attenutators) are frequently struck in minor events that may compromise the attenuator's performance, yet DoTs or contractors are not notified. The next impact may result in tragedy. In addition, real-time data that helps identify the vehicle and driver will aid in revenue recover (from insurance). AIMS® provides immediate text and email messaging to alert personnel that an attenuator has been struck. It provides photographs of the attenuator at installation so that proper equipment and tools are on the inspection vehicle. Location and time-stamp is embedded in the message. And the AIMS® dashboard provides asset location, manufacturer, number of impacts, photographs, and recall alerts for management to view from the desktop or mobile device. And Pi-Lit's® proprietary mesh network allows multiple sensors to connect to the cloud with a single cellular connection.
