The PTOE (Professional Traffic Operations Professional) certification is a powerful demonstration of requisite knowledge, skill and ability in the specialized application of traffic operations engineering. The certification process, which has been adopted for professional traffic operations engineers, requires that the holder be a licensed professional engineer if he or she practices in the United States, Canada or any other country that provides governmental licensing of engineers. This certification process builds on and supports the practice of professional engineering registration. It is a long-term investment in one's professional career, which can be presented with pride!

The PTP (Professional Transportation Planner) certification program is designed for candidates who have a wide-range of education and experience in transportation planning. Currently, no other certification program is offered that specifically addresses the work performed by transportation planners. Transportation planning is the discipline that examines and evaluates the potential of future actions to improve movement of people and goods by motor vehicle, public transportation, walking and cycling in accordance with a set of objectives. Providing cooperative interaction between the public, transportation professionals and decision makers—transportation planning balances the needs of access mobility and safety with environmental economic and social equity concerns.

The Road Safety Professional (RSP) certifications represent an important step forward for the safety profession. These certifications recognize road safety as a profession, to establish a recognized level of practice and knowledge, and to incentivize safety education and safety education. The RSP certifications provide for professionals involved in a wide array of safety-related disciplines to establish their competency in providing for the safety of the traveling public.

• Level 1: Those achieving Level 1 certification will have demonstrated proficiency in the foundations of road safety principles. The exam is for a broad audience of professionals who in the performance of their work make decisions or take actions that potentially impact the safety of the traveling public. This includes those in the engineering, motor vehicle, behavioral, law enforcement, and emergency response communities. 
• Level 2: This certification is geared toward professionals whose primary job functions are directed at improving the safety performance of the surface transportation system. It is for professionals responsible for developing and implementing engineering or behavioral programs aimed at reducing the number of fatalities and injuries due to road crashes. Prospective certificants will select between a Level 2 certification with a “behavioral specialty” or Level 2 certification with an “infrastructure specialty.”​
